Site Foundation
We have developed four sites, all of which are currently occupied. For new sites, we are requiring people to make the investment to set up the site for themselves. In return, we will subsidise the amount through the weekly contribution until the setup costs have been fully paid back. Each site does require earthworks with a digger, rock and driveway access, soak lines for stormwater, spring water connection, and greywater flowing into a banana circle. We have recently begun excavation work on two new sites to help demonstrate their potential and give people a clearer sense of the vision for the land. The community has invested into partially developing these spaces so future landsharers can better understand the possibilities, layout, and feeling of each area. Photos of these sites have now been added to the profile. All sites are north-facing, surrounded by forest, and relatively close to the main driveway, which helps reduce development costs and simplifies access. The sites are private while still being close enough to maintain strong connection with the wider community. We have experience, practical knowledge, and good local connections to help make the setup process smooth and low stress.Driveway Foundation
Main driveway is well maintained gravel road. It is mainly flat except one steep part coming down to the property. The road leading to Hakea is also gravel for 1km off from main road which is tar sealed.Parking

Hakea – Land Share Opportunity Hakea is a permaculture community situated within the beautiful Pakoka Scenic Reserve, overlooking Aotea Harbour in rural Raglan. We live off-grid and are continually working towards a more abundant way of life. Over the years we have been planting food forests, improving water systems, growing food, and regenerating the land to create a thriving ecosystem that supports people, wildlife, birds, bees, and future generations. Hakea has been evolving for over seven years and is currently home to six families who enjoy the peace, beauty, and connection that this land offers. We are looking for someone with aligned values who would like a place to establish their tiny home, grow food, and enjoy the tranquillity of the scenic reserve. There is access to native bush, walking tracks, and the harbour, with opportunities for those interested in fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature. Our community is guided by the values of: • Kaitiakitanga – caring for all living systems • Whanaungatanga – caring for ourselves, our families, and our community • Manaakitanga – showing respect, care, and support for others We're looking for someone who already has, or is ready to establish, their own fully self-contained tiny home setup. We have a number of different areas available, each with its own unique character and qualities. All areas are north-facing, receiving excellent sunlight throughout the day, making them ideal for gardens, food growing, and comfortable living. Hakea is home to people from a variety of cultural backgrounds and nationalities, creating a vibrant community with a broad range of experiences, traditions, and perspectives. We enjoy celebrating our differences, learning from one another, and bringing our collective knowledge together to create a place that is both supportive and inspiring. As a community, we value open communication and active participation. We come together regularly to discuss projects, share ideas, make decisions, and ensure we are moving forward in a way that supports both the individuals and the wider community. We have clear decision-making and conflict resolution processes that help us navigate challenges respectfully and maintain healthy relationships. This collaborative approach creates clarity, trust, and a strong sense of shared purpose. Community spaces at Hakea are within walking distance and provide opportunities to connect, share skills, and enjoy the wider community. Hakea is located approximately 20 minutes from Raglan and 45 minutes from Hamilton. If you are seeking a lifestyle centred around connection to the land, community, food growing, simple living, and shared abundance, we would love to hear from you. We are working to create a supportive and inspiring environment where people can thrive alongside nature and one another. We value clear communication, personal responsibility, respect for shared spaces, and a genuine desire to contribute positively to the wider community. We'd be happy to share more about the available areas, contributions, and how the land share works once we've had an opportunity to connect and get to know each other a little better. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Team HakeaLocation
