We’re looking for long-term tenants on our property. Set on 200 acres in the Kauaeranga Valley, the site is flat with easy road access, plenty of parking, and borders a stony stream. It gets a good amount of sun, even in the winter, and in summer your own swimming hole is just metres away. The flat area is approx 900m2. We have installed the septic treatment system and hard standing, and connected a large water tank to the permanent spring supply. This hasn’t been tested for potability, and we recommend you collect drinking water from your roof. Two large raised gardens with lovely topsoil are waiting for your vege garden, and there are two feijoa trees and a lemon too. The rest of the property is mostly bush, ranging from ancient stands of kauri, puriri, kohekohe, to young, regenerating kanuka, to weedy project areas that we’re gradually wrangling into shape. We – Sam and Keri – are a Belgian/Kiwi couple who have lived here for three years and both work from home. Our family is completed by two rescue dogs and two heifers. The Kauaeranga Valley has a wonderful community, with regular events at the Hall, including yoga, shared meals, music, games nights, fairs, and more. Just 10 minutes away from Thames, it’s convenient for amenities in town as well as being just 5 minutes from the DoC centre and the Coromandel Forest Park. Since moving here three years ago we have been made to feel very welcome, and look forward to extending that welcome to new tenants too. What’s on offer: - Water from a permanent spring stored in a large tank. It may be drinkable, but hasn’t been tested. We recommend collecting drinking water from your roof (this is what we do ourselves). - Solar power available via a caravan plug. The panels are scoped to be sufficient for a tiny house, but were initially bought to run the septic pump for ~30 mins/day. The additional power generated could supplement your own set-up, or power a small tiny house. - Septic and grey water disposal in a consented treatment system. - Good rural wifi/mobile phone signal (with One NZ, unsure about other carriers). - Secure storage in the mini container. - Easy access flat, sunny site, approx 900m2. - Swimming hole at your doorstep. - Fruit trees and garden space for veges. - 10 minutes to Thames, 5 minutes to the DoC centre and Coromandel Forest Park. - We’d consider well-behaved dogs, but otherwise no pets please. - $200/week (excluding lawns, if needed). Initial costs and bond TBC, dependent on the kind of connection needed to the septic system. Both composting/dump station and flush toilets are possible. - Possibility down the line to exchange rent for work on the land for the right people. Interested? Get in touch with details about who you are, what you’re looking for, and anything else that might help us understand you. If it sounds like a good fit, we’ll be in touch to make a time to see the property and get to know you a little better. The site will not be available for viewing without an appointment, so no fence-hoppers please!
