Details
We have a flat back paddock available for lease. We are interested in finding out whether there is any interest to put a tiny house on it (either fully self-contained, or utilising the water and power nearby). The paddock is part of a one-acre property, which already has one small cottage on site, and two adults in their 30s, a two year old, and two cats calling it home. Given our situation, we think that the lease would particularly suit a young family (but are very open to seeing what interest is out there). The exact area for lease, the weekly rent, access to other parts of the property, timeframe, etc is up for negotiation. For the right people, we would be prepared to look at a 2-3 year lease agreement. Pets may be possible. I believe that the area could connect to our Wifi with the correct router, but this will need to be confirmed. Important: any lease is subject to all "i"s and "t"s being crossed with the Ashburton District Council, at the applicant's expense. We are happy to assist with the logistics of this. This is critical as 1) we don't want someone to go to the trouble/ cost of moving in only to have to leave shortly thereafter when council become aware of it, and 2) we want to do it by the book. Council have so far provided the following information to us. Note that the exact requirements are likely to be partially dependant on the exact set-up of the house moving on e.g. self-sufficient or not, size, etc. "A resource consent would be required to have two residential units on a site. Non-notified resource consents have a 20 working day processing timeframe. All applications are assessed based on their merits and the information provided at the time of application. The 2024/2025 fee for resource consents is $1,295.00. All applications are required to have an assessment of environmental effects or AEE. More information on how to write an AEE, and a copy of the application form are on the ‘Making an Application’ page of the ADC website."
