Hi, we’re Mick & Megs – a reliable, caring couple looking for a medium to long-term lease on acreage with some native bush, where we can park our JB caravan (21ft 6in) or bring in a tiny home. Our goal is to live simply, in harmony with the land, while staying close to family in Whakatane. Who We Are • Experienced house sitters with glowing reviews, known for treating properties and animals as if they were our own. Past homeowners describe us as “trustworthy, respectful and reliable… going above and beyond” and “the kind of people you’d be lucky to have”, “Would get them back in a heartbeat.” • Mick is a retired miner with a background in operating machinery - very practical and handy around a farm or lifestyle block, happy tinkering in a workshop. • Megs works online in Environmental Data Management and is also an experienced trapper with an ecology background. • Together we’d love to grow a productive vegetable garden and have space for a shipping container workshop. Our Living Setup • Our JB caravan is fully off-grid and self-contained, with the option to add a tiny home in the future. • Plans include raised vegetable beds and a container workshop. • We live respectfully and with low impact – everything we set up (raised gardens, tiny home, container workshop) would be fully removable. Animals & Pets We are lifelong animal lovers. While we don’t currently have pets, we’d eventually like a dog or two of our own, which we would keep strictly within our area. Through housesitting and a previously owned small farm we’ve cared for many pets and farm animals – from puppies and cats to cows, sheep, alpacas and chickens – and would be more than happy to look after animals or fur babies if needed. What We’re Looking For • Acreage with some native bush to enjoy and help maintain. • Space suitable for our caravan/tiny home setup plus a container workshop. • Within 1 hour of Whakatane so we can stay close to and support family. • A medium to long-term lease arrangement with like-minded landowners. • Caretaking or land management work in exchange for part (or all) of the lease – we’re open to working out a fair arrangement that supports both sides. If you have a property that might suit, we’d love to hear from you.Megan Griffin
